Drew and I were lucky enough to got to Phoenix for Spring Training this year. We were also lucky enough to go without our kids. It's so nice to have family near by to give us the chance to do stuff like this.
So we headed down Tuesday night and continued on Wednesday. It's such a long drive but we made it and got there around 1pm. We joined up with Chris and Meagan who have become our "vacation buddies". Chris' boss owns a 2 bedroom condo in Scottsdale which is really nice and
decorated with a Japanese theme. There was a huge kimono hanging on the wall in the living room and one hanging above our bed. Anyway it was super nice. So once we got there we headed out to In n Out Burger where we enjoyed some burgers protein style. After that we chilled by the pool and when I say chilled I mean it. The water was super cold so I didn't get in at all.
After getting ready for dinner out I realized that Colleen worked 10 minutes from where we were staying. She recommended Oregano's for dinner and even joined us which was a nice surprise. I'm so glad she got to come. So after a fantastic dinner we headed over to Ernie's Inn for a little Karaoke. Drew and I sung Afternoon Delight together and it was a big hit.
So Thursday we had our first game to go to Giants vs. Cubs. It was at 7:30 pm so we had all day to play. We went to Costco and got stuff for appetizer night, then went back to In n Out burger
and spent the rest of the day playing doubles tennis and swimming in the pool. The baseball
game was crazy windy and cold. The first 4 or 5 innings weren't too bad but by then the wind got really bad. Tree branches were blowing off the trees and the garbage cans were flying around. It was nuts. Anyway one of the staff was wearing a garbage sack as a wind breaker and Drew and Chris had the brilliant idea of sharing one. Such goofs. It was so much fun. We ended up leaving early only to find out that the ump called it early anyway.
So Friday was pretty much the same as the day before...swimming, tennis, eating food at YC's Mongolian Grill and then baseball. This time we saw A's vs. Padres and we had really good seats right behind home plate, the weather was less windy and much warmer. This game was fun cuz there was a group of former frat boys sitting in front of us all of whom were pretty wasted making for some fun entertainment.
Saturday was a beautiful day. We had a day game Angels vs. Mariners. Our seats were on the grass so we could lay out in the hot sun. It was pretty great. Meagan and I read our books through a lot of the game but it was still fun to be out there. The field was absolutely beautiful. And yes, Drew HAD to get his picture taken with the Miller Lite girls.
After the game we sat in the hot tub and then got ready for dinner at the Cheesecake Factory. So yummy. What a perfect way to end a trip mmm Cheesecake.
